Prayers for this summer

Patience.

Fun.

An eye to see the little moments.

An eye to work on the fringes.

Opportunities to cut out and say yes.

To connect as a family, spouse, and kids.

This week as we officially launch into summer I wanted to take a moment and pray with you.

Summer doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Summer doesn’t have to be full of guilt or should. Let this be the summer we take back our should, say yes more, work hard when we are at work, and play with our kids.

I am working on this and as I figure this out this verse keeps coming to my head.

Whatever you do, do it with all your heart. If it’s time to work, do it. Work hard. If it’s time to clean house go for it, time to play with all your heart.

We don’t work for human bosses. We work for the Lord. Serve the Lord with gladness.

That means in everything that we get to do. The things we GET to do hear me when I say that!

So let’s take a second and pray together for our hearts this summer.

Lord, thank you for this time, for this season. We are all in a different spot yet we all are together walking in community and seeking you and your face.

Parenting is tough, balance seems unreachable and when little hands are reaching for us and life can feel full with all that we get to do.

Lord help us to calm down. Help us to stop chasing the to-do list and lay aside the thoughts of things we SHOULD do. Guide us with our shoulds.

Lead us in patience with our family this summer. Help us to lead with a deep breath and joy every day. Give us clear opportunities to connect with our spouses, and help us to be more than roommates and teammates but so connected in all that we do.

God, help us to see the little moments with so much joy and magic. Please give us a boost of energy when we feel like we have nothing left to give. Help us to serve and love well. And Really Lord helps us to love ourselves. Help us to not should ourselves or not compare our days to anyone else. Help us to start each day with you and end it with the assurance that we gave you, our kids, our work, and our husbands our best.

We love you God and we thank you for our family. We thank you for the opportunity to serve them and the people we work for. Thank you for this summer and let it be our best summer yet!
